Description

The logged-in, Recipes For You experience of AllRecipes.com shows the user recipes recommended specifically for them based on their saved and browsing history.

Problem

Dotdash Meredith and AllRecipes.com needed to create a logged-in experience that's valuable for users. AllRecipes.com has detailed categorization for all it's recipes and a way to collect user browsing data. Together, this can create an effective recipe recommendation engine valued by users.

New Experience

"You" are front and center. The new "Recipes for You" user experience shows users only recipes personalized for them. The user can browse collections and recipes based on their cooking and browsing history. It also displays ingredients users cook with regularly, allowing users to dive deeper into the recipe database. User research showed that users prefer and trust recommendations over a browsing experience that is the same for everyone. Users reported that over 50% of weekly cooking uses repeat / favorite ingredients. A tailored experience gets users to their desired recipe quicker.
